Beautiful Disaster
I went on a book-bender this week, but the "bender" consisted of only one book. This one. This is the first book, in all of my reading experience that I have ever finished, just to immediately start reading again. Not because I didn't understand what happened and had to re-read to comprehend it (it's an easy, albeit emotionally-involved, read). I didn't re-read it because I forgot what happened, and needed to refresh my memory for this review. No. Every

Dr. Emily Drake’s patients tend to be a little unusual. Instead of the typical therapist’s caseload of midlife crises and mother fixations, Emily treats vampires with blood phobias and sex-demons looking for meaningful relationships. But her gift for recognizing and healing the Other—those creatures of the night that most humans don’t even know exist—requires a few house rules. First: Never trust a shifter. Especially not one like Detective Colin Gyth whose gold-flecked

It is no mystery that I fell hard for a specific tattooed (albeit imaginary) bad boy a few weeks ago. I happened upon a book while searching for a new "rock star" romance to read, and found "Brian". I quickly realized that he was not a musician (well, not as far as I know, anyway) however, he did have a knack for a particular instrument. A "rough around the edges" tattoo artist, leading the bad boy lifestyle, and yet, he had the heart of a hero. My fascination with Brian proved that I'm

Reyes... Reyes, Reyes, Reyes. Reminded me somewhat of "Z" (from BDB series) so I ummm... kinda, put my brain picture of "Zsadist" and superimposed it onto Reyes. Not bad, if I do say so myself. Made for a mighty enjoyable read, and kinda like re-reading Z's story (okay, maybe Z's cousin or something). Oh, did I ever tell you I did that with "Tegan" from the Midnight Breed series? Vampire Mine
As much as I have loved most of the books in this series, on occasion, I hit one that just didn't do "it" for me. This is a perfect example.

I was looking forward to Connor's story. From one book to the next, Connor would openly scowl at all the blossoming love around him, that tormented his apparently tortured soul. Another big release day. A few highly anticipated YA books (such as a House of Night addition, and the latest Immortals from Alyson Noel), and one that I'm curious about, the latest by Laurell K Hamilton Hit List (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter).

I say curious. I'm treading lightly when it comes to Anita now, as I've been disappointed in a few of the latest ones. But, once upon a time, I was addicted to that series.

Falling Star
I did it again. I read a recently released vampire book that didn't really do "it" for me. I needed my intensity fix so I scrounged around in my iPad, until I found another one of my guilty pleasures. SEXY HOT BAD BOY ROCK STARS. These books are very hard to find, but so far every one I've found has been plenty satisfying. This one included. I didn't intend to review it (it was just a little short "fun time" for me) but here I am still thinking about it, and I needed to let you

I know... it took me awhile to write this one, huh? Considering I finished it last Monday. This was another one of those "I need time to get over it" kind of series. Books that make you feel that way are always good but after the whirlwind Memorial Day weekend I spent with the Hunger Games crew, I was *spent*.

I knew I'd miss them, and I had a BLAST reading this series with my Facebook gang (and our commenting frenzy), but considering how book#3 ended, I needed more. More... detail, more

Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)
Oh. My. Goodness. This book was something else. Whoa…. Wow! I feel like I’ve literally been dragged through... Wait. Haven't I said this before? Yes. Yes I have. And I'm right back where I started, but so much further ahead.

The series, so far, in a word? Relentless. Terrifying. Agonizing. Both heartening and disheartening. Okay, it's impossible to keep it to one word, but you get the picture. Your reading experience will

Oh. My. Goodness. This book was something else. Whoa.... Wow! I've literally been dragged through a vast array of emotionally charged and mostly dangerous moments. Now, I am sitting here stunned, somewhat happy, but not relieved. Happy that I've been recommended such an arresting, and completely absorbing series. But relief. None. My heart is still pumping from what just happened, and the apprehension (and anxiousness) of a few more things to come. You see, as warned by my reader

I had all intentions last night to write Cezar's review (Alexandra Ivy's Darkness Revealed), and of course, I still fully intend to (btw - quick review - it's "good-ish", but far from a favorite).

But you see...I was sidetracked. Actually, more like derailed. While I usually like to write my reviews before starting a new book, on occasion, something tempts me away from acting responsibly. And considering Cezar didn't floor me, I was an easy "sway" ;) Tee hee!!

What swayed me, you ask?

The book isn't officially out just yet (coming out on June 21st 2011), but once it is released, I'll be getting a nice paperback copy to add to my collection ;) I love the obvious vampirey-ness of these covers.

The Demon in Me (A Living in Eden Novel)
Darrak. Sinfully sweet and sexy yet potentially evil, Darrak. I have been crushing on you since I first spotted your cover of "Something Wicked". With that slightly arrogant expression on your face, you surelooked like you were hiding something wicked, alright. I oooh'd and ahhh'd, and used every excuse I could to post your most gorgeous cover on my blog. I would bring you up in book-related conversation, just so that I could eventually gush over

Invincible: The Chronicles of Nick
The second installment in Nick Gautier's YA life, was pleasing. I enjoyed it, but it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat (unless of course, the scene included Ash or Kyrian). They were the scene stealers. Ash and his cocky sense of humor, and Kyrian with his smoldering protector, all around "good-guy" sexiness. Sexiness in a YA novel that focuses on a fourteen year old boy? Well, lemme re-phrase. There is no "sexy" in this book whatsoever, but I used

About book#1:
As a Chancellor, a vampire-human hybrid, Ambrose O'Brien is used to handling tough negotiations between the human and vampire clans of New Eire—except when the challenging and sexy vampire heiress Miranda Connor is involved. Though Ambrose longs to find out if she's as fiesty in the bedroom as she is at the bargaining table, it's unthinkable that an upper-class vampire would ever take a half-breed like him as a lover....

But when Miranda's family is attacked, Ambrose is the

---> LATEST UPDATE: March 13th 2011

Jen suggested a few awesomely priced e-books (in my freebie post), so that sent me on a paranormal bargain hunt. Not only are these a great deal (mostly 0.99 cents to $1.99), but the majority have high ratings, and some are even from best-selling series!

I've tried to select books with mostly only good/great reviews and/or full length (although some "short stories might slip in if it's from a well known author). For those of you who are in the

When Darkness Comes (Guardians of Eternity, Book 1)
Well, well, well... I had no idea the "Guardians" were full-fledged vampires. Not that I wouldn't have read the series eventually, but upon the very high recommendations from fellow readers (and Sherry's super generosity), my reading time for the next couple of weeks has been filled.

These are old-school vampires, folks. Can't see their own reflection, have no recollection of their human lives, have mind control, super speed strength,

You know this was a fun list to make ;) To be clear, these aren't necessarily my favorite heroes or even my favorite books (some I haven't even read yet). Just covers that made do a double-take and blush. Books that have somehow managed to placed on the top of my "to be read" piles" (not on purpose of course and definitely not so that I might steal quick and easy glimpses, as I pass my book piles). They are not in order of preference, as that changes depending on my "mood".

They made the
